First of I want to thank everyone on this form I have gotten lots of useful info from here.... Ok on to my questions. (Sorry if these seem "noobie.")
It seems that I have been reading conflicting information.
I have read that all the Core 2 Duo cpu's have 1066 front side bus (1066 is listed in the stats) which is made up of 266x4 and that ddr2-533 is 1:1 with that so it has good performance at low cost for ram.
I have also read a lot about people overclocking ther core 2 duo's front side bus to 400x8 (with the e6400) or 400x7 (with the e6300). They like the 400 front side bus setting because it is 1:1 with ddr2-800 ram. I have even read about people setting their e6400 to 450x8 to get even higher clock speed and overclocking some ram to hit ddr2-900 settings to stay syncronized.
So which is it?
Do all of them have fsb of 1066 so that the only way to get 1:1 with ram is to have ddr2-1067?
Or you can change fsb to overclock it?
All have 266fsb x multiplier of 4 or all diferent multipliers?
How could setting 400 fsb be an overclock compared to 1066? Or is it referring to the 266 number?
Am I missing something?
