I have a Lenovo Laptop, the config is as follows Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T2060 processor 1.60GHz, 1280x800, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 2.80-2.80 with Windows Vista Home Basic, 512 MB and 80 GB

while starting it a blue screen appears, which says "Physical Memory Dump Error"
and the laptop does not even shut down.

I am not able to figure out the problem, what should I do next?

Thanks in advance.
Pamela.

What error message comes with that blue screen? We need all the information from the start of the error. It will be in the pattern "STOP 0x00000000 ERROR_DESCRIPTION (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"

STOP: 0x0000008E(0xC0000090,0x00795B62,0xF143485C,0x00000000)
STOP: 0x0000008E(0xC0000090,0x004B4BB7,0xF05BB85C,0x00000000)
STOP: 0x0000008E(0xC000008F,0x7C036449,0xF0B5485C,0x00000000)

Then it says

Physical memory dump complete.

these were the messages that were there on the blue screen.

You probably have some bad RAM. If possible run memtest (http://www.memtest.org/) you don't need to buy a CD or anything from them, you can download it for free then you need to make a bootable floppy/cd/USB key.
