please help me set virtual memory, think i messed up!

rule of thumb is you generally allocate double the amount of RAM you have. However, your OS should handle virtual memory. Why is it you need to manually set it?

thats right...cause onboard video takes its memory from the ram....so:
512MB of ram - 64MB for the onboard video = 448MB of RAM.
get it?

onboard video? I just added a 256mb stick of ram to make it 448.

So I read somewhere to set both allocation to 768 anyone heard of this?

tlarkin gave you all the information you really need. You set your virtual memory (page file, swap file) to double the amount of memory you have, up to a point. You have 512MB of RAM before you take away the memory for your onboard video, so you should set your virtual memory to around 1GB.
