Please help me with my computer beeping problem!

Hello There

Whenever I do certain things, the computer makes a horrible loud DOS like beep, right into my earphones, it scares me half to death. Yet I cannot find how to stop the dammned beepings.

Example situations

1. When I clicked on the activate account link in the email I was sent by this site!

2. If I keyboard scroll down in Word and reach the bottom of the text, then press down again

3. If I click the close "x" in Wordpad

4. Again if the "Do you wish to save" thing is up and I click anywhere on the screen

Damn it's unbelievably annoying, please help me anyone!

In order to narrow down where the sound is actually comming from, try this. Mute your sound and see if it still occurs, if it does not still occur then there is something under you sound profile that is set to play what ever sound you are hearing when you do what ever it is that you are doing. What you could then do is go under you sound profile through control pannel and disable all sounds, or pick the "No Sounds" option. If the problem has been fixed then you can add the sounds back one by one until you find which option was causing the issue.

Thanks, muting stopped the noise, so I clicked control panel-sound and now without doing anything else the beeping has been replaced by a windows noise and is a million times better

Thanks alot! :)
