Please Help Me

Well that's up to you. But if you don't need a new PC, it might be cheaper to simply buy a fresh copy of Vista. But, by the sounds of things a new PC couldn't hurt... Your call. Good luck.

Well......Would uninstalling my OS and clearing my pc of everything (and then installing xp) would my pc be almost brand new? or would virus' and problems as such still be on my system?

Yes that would work. Reformating will erase EVERYTHING, including... EVERYTHING.

Would you like instructions to reformat and install windows XP?

your best bet is a reformat like other s have suggested.

If you don't have a restore disk, you might have one of these restore partitions in your hard drive.

Forget about norton, it is no good, it causes as much problems as it can fix. I am a die hard norton fan long ago and i have since learned not to ever use it again. you also mentioned that your useing teh 2006 version, it is way outdated and you should get rid of it.

USE Avg instead.

Did you check your system time? is it right? wrong system time will cause problems with Avg.

good luck.

Just so you know, there's is no "uninstall" for windows, if there was, it wouldn't remove all the files...

To explain: When installing an OS on a brand new hard drive, the hard drive must be formated in order to install the OS (this is done with the install CD). To install a new OS, the hard drive must simply be re-formated to start all over. Reformating will completly erase everything on the Hard Drive, then the OS is installed.

Many people reformat periodicly, or whenever they fell their computer has slowed down over time. Reformating is like resetting your PC to what it used to be, restart from zero.

If there's files you want to keep. (Music, Pictures, Data, etc.) you should back them up to a CD, or removable media before reformating, so you can put them back once you finished reinstalling.

Here's a link to a website with step by step instruction and pictures to actually doing this with a win XP CD.

If that doesn't fix your problem, nothing will! :D

*edit* and because i have no idea, how much u recon it would cost for a guy at my local pc shop to install it for me XD?

XP is around 100$ If you follow the instructions, I'm certain you'll succeed. If you have trouble, just come back to the forums, we'll try an help.

And Vista Basic 32Bit upgrade is $50 on eBay. You could get Vista Home Premium for around that price, and IMO I'd get it. The SP has come out, afterall.
