PLease Help Need to laod OS

Hey I got an older computer today and the harddrive was already formatted but i dont have a system disk to load windows on it, if i were to download windows xp from a friend, How do I get it to install the NTSF files or whatever they are so that i can load windows.....If this helps anywhenever i boot the computer up i get INVAILD SYSTEM DISK
 
Unlike older versions of windows, the XP CD is bootable. Just set the CD-ROM drive to first priority in the boot order, and boot from that. If, for some reason, you can't boot from the CD, you can download the XP boot disk creator from the Internet (requires 6 floppies).

I take it the computer has a licence for XP, but no installation CD? In that case you can borrow a friends CD and use your CD-Key, but i'm not sure what you mean by downloading XP from a friend's
 
if you dont have a copy of xp you cant download it from a freind you will have to buy a copy (oem) not retail
