Please help with ASUS laptop problem?

I'll try to be specific and add as much detail as possible. I have been getting this problem where i push the power button and my screen stays blank. I could hear the computer loading and the blinking lights, and i also heard the ASUS logo sound when powering it on, however i dont see the ASUS logo. This problem used to happen occasionally for a week, now it is happening every time.

My laptop specs are:

Asus M50Sv

T9300 core 2 duo
4gb ddr2 ram
9600M GS
250gb hd

Some things you should know about my laptop:
It gets hot when playing games like WoW or high intensive games, temps reach at 90C
laptop is almost 3 years old

My attempts to try to fix the problem:
I tried replacing the hard drive
I tried replacing the memory sticks
I put new thermal paste on my cpu and gpu
I literally took my ram, hard drive, cpu, gpu, wireless card, cmos battery out and put them back in tightly to see if it was loose
I tried using a monitor to see if my LCD screen was broken

After doing all of the following, and still no luck! :(

The problem started about 2 weeks ago, i would get it occasionally, randomly and when it works, everything ran nicely, perfectly. i tested the cpu, gpu temps etc i tested games, everything worked perfectly. i even left the laptop on for 3 days and still worked nicely. But once i turned it off, then tried turning it back on, it wouldnt work! So why does it do this?

What i am able to do in the blank screen:
i can open my cd rom
If i leave the laptop on long enough, i can push the power button and it would go to sleep mode, i can tell by the slow flashing power light.

I've been googling a lot and got no good answer, however i tried this one procedure someone suggested on their website. they said to press down on the keyboard when booting...Which i did and waaalaaa! it worked! i tested everything again and everything worked totally fine! left it on for 4 days and still not a single problem! Played games without any lag or anything. it was completely normal. Then i turned it off and turned it on again and then i get that same problem again!!! im pulling out my hair! :(

I tried that pressing down on keyboard technique again and it didn't work this time =( its been 2 days now and ive been getting the same problem. :(

Does anyone know if i need a new motherboard? or is it my cpu or gpu? or is it something else?

I really would like to fix this problem, it is a very expensive laptop

At this point I feel you need expert hands on help, if it's over two years I would be looking at a new laptop.
 
i got a new laptop =) but still would like to fix this one.

I found new info on this problem. after googling for weeks i found out that someone with the exact laptop, with the exact model and had the exact same problem as mine. And he actually got it fixed! What he did was he pushed down firmly on a spot where you rest your left hand palm while booting his laptop and his problem was fixed, he had no problems again after that. So i am guessing there might be somthing loose? maybe? And where the left hand palm rests, that's where the videocard is located. So it might actually be the videocard? what do you guys think?
 
Well, from the sounds of it, you have taken it apart at least a few times. So, loose ends are very possible. I think you should attempt to reset your BIOS. Your computer is turning on like it normaly should, you just aren't getting any video. So, if you can get some guide with the same BIOS as yours, or use the manual you should try resetting the BIOS to factory settings.
 
It does sound like a loose or broken connection. Check your ribbons and make sure they are properly secured.

That does not preclude a problem with your GPU, though. If it is replaceable, then I'd try just the GPU, otherwise the mainboard may be at issue.

I suspect GPU and maybe MoBo. You say you can remove the GPU? You need to cook it and maybe also the MoBo. This GPU problem was common in the 8600m GPU's I am not as familiar with it being in the 9600m also.

The problem was incompatible materials, the weld would fail. It was the heat up cool down of the card that caused. I think putting pressure on the GPU/MoBo is creating contact in a broken circuit.

Cooking has a good chance of fixing the problem. But it is likely what will end up failing again.

I think you need to clarify this term 'cooking'. What do you want him to do, toss it in the oven? At what temperature?

Now, I happen to work on electronics for a living, and the highest safe temperature I can cook my equipment to is 50° C which is around 122° F. That's extreme, though. Better to stay below 45° C (~ 113° F).

Regardless, I see little practical use in cooking the GPU at this point-- if there is a bad connection, then cooking it won't cause it to magically fix. One would need a strong magnifier (or microscope) and a soldering iron with a very fine tip to repair damaged solder connections or effect any repair of broken circuit traces.
 
In the oven about 375F for 5-10 minutes. OP should Google search the Internet for the exact recipe he wants to use.

Dngrsone, I must differ with your comments for the most part. On your temps I will 100% agree with you on those for your purposes. On what I am talking about I hardly agree. 113F? That is below a realistic operating temperature of the components we are talking about.

And yes cooking will "magically" fix it. It will in many cases repair damaged solder connections, micro fractures.

It is unorthodox and yes I would not expect an electronics professional to recommend it. It is a last ditch commando method to try and add life when you have little to lose. Please Google it if you don't believe me.

I've used the same procedure to bake a desktop 9800GT and 8800GT back to life.

It does with both GPU's and MoBo's. It fixes "micro fractures" or more correctly "micro fissures".

is this a thread about a computer problem or somthing else, I may be new here but certainly not iexperienced and typically this type of thread hijacking is completly unproductive.
