Please help with my network problems

hey,

after my internet was down for 1 day, 2 months ago my computer has acted strange. Problem is that I can use firefox, but I cant use any other web browser. I get the message that I have some network problems. Even windows update doesent work and I get the error message: 8024402C

Also other programs wont update. I have tried something called resetting the winsock. I did that and I could go online with firefox, but not the other browsers.

Does anyone know what my problem is. Can it be something wrong with my proxy settings? I have had this problem for 2 months now and really want to fix it. I would rather not do a complete reinstallation of win 7.

What was done to fix your internet? Have you tried resetting your modem and router while your computer is off?
 
I dont have any router or modem. I am using a student network and my cable is directly attechet to an internet outlet. ( just need to plug the cable into the wall)

I have also tried reinstalling o my browsers without results.
 
Then you need to contact the network admin for help or whoever fixed the issue for you.
 
I fixed some of the problems myself with manually resetting the winsock in the registry. Then I could use FF, but still IE, Chrome, and windows update+several other updates would still not work.

I will contact my internet provider.
