Ive installed a new seagate 250gig hd. The problem is that i cant get windows to register that is has more than 131gig on the hd. In the BIOS settings it says it a 250gig but when installing windows 2000 or xp, it wont pick up more than the 131. To add to the problem, I cant even get windows setup to format more than the 131gig.

Any advice would be much appreciated

thanx for the info.

i found some software on the seagate website but the best i can come up with is a bunch of errors. I've tried making bootable floppies and cd's but it all ends up going through to a commmand or filename not recognised message.

I just cant seem to win with this one. Is it worth formatting and installing windows on the 131gig and then trying to fix the issue or is it best for the drive to be empty???

Thanx for all the info guys....

The seagate disc wizard wasnt much help to me as all it would do was cause startup errors on my pc. In the end I had to partition the remaining of the drive from the group policy menu in xp. So end result is that I now have the full capaicty of the hard drive but I had to compromise by using a partition. Not sure on the age of the computer but im sure it would be pushing the 2002 mark.

Cheers again.
