PLEASE HELP!!!!!! (zalman cpu fan)

so I bought a new cpu (amd 64 x2) and a fan to go along with it.
the fan fits my mobo and everything but its the plug that is getting to me :mad:

my current cpu fan and this one have diffrent connectors...
im wondering how im suppose to get this to work because I looked
for the connector with 4prongs on my mobo and dont see it
the only one I see that says "cpu fan" has only 3 prongs comming out of it..

I really like this fan and would like to have it work....
Is there anything that I can do??

Both the Zalman CNPS 9500 and 9700 model coolers see the 3pin plug that slides down inplace with the tab seen on the board. This leaves one pin exposed. You just have to plug that in easily to avoid bending the 4th pin when doing that. Unfortunately they don't include a 3 to 4pin adapter with those. Which model did you buy there?
 
I have the zalman cnps9700 NT and I really dont want to plug it in to my 3pin connector on my mobo because it looks really bad like...and accident waiting to happen lol

unless one of you guys are sure that the fan (with a 4 pin connecor) will work well on my mobo (with a 3 pin)

The 9700 was just installed on the new build here and saw the fan work properly(once the blades were pressed forward to clear the array of fins however freeing it to spin freely. That's how that one came in. :rolleyes: ). The locking tab seen on the board and on the actual 3pin plug insure the correct pins are used. There's only one way that will plug in there.
 
My mobo has a 4 pin connector, my Zalman is a 3 pin. I just plugged it into the 3pins were the snap is and all is well (leaving one exposed). I think the 4th pin on the mobo is for monitoring/speed controll. But also the zalmans come with a fan controller and it works on my 4 pin mobo connector, some of the reviews said it don't but it does for me.
 
If you note the shape of the plug on the Zalman itself you will clearly see the one way fit over the correct 3 pins used. The problem seen here was the larger 110mm fan on apparently the same size array of copper fins where the fan and motor had to be pushed forward seeing the fan tilted at a slight angle so the blades would spin normally. Other then that one way only worked out well on the 3 pins here.
 
see you guys have 3pins on your fan plug I have 3 pins on my mobo...
I dont know how this will work...

I mean I can try to plug it in but i really hope nothing happens :(
 
Dont be so silly, nothing will break, all a fan needs is a red and black wire connected to the motherboard, and a sensor wire if you realy want it, just plug it in and it will be fine
 
lol I wish I knew what the colors on it ment :( so im assuming that I connect all of them exept the blue one??

because the fan has a black,yellow,green, and blue cable
 
Plug it in one way, turn on the pc, if the fan turns on great ! If it doesnt quickly switch the pc off and plug it in the other way and do the same thing

It will only fit one way since the plug itself has a recess in it. The block on the board also sees a tab coming up designating the pins #2, #3, and #4 with the #1 pin left exposed. Like I mentioned before you just have to careful when pluggin in it not to bend the first pin. With a 9700 you also have to make sure that the fan blades(110mm) spin freely and are not pressed into the array. With the 9500 the shorter blades allow those to be recessed.
