I ran a system recovery when it prompted me to. I have to start my computer 6-8 times before the administrator password screen pops up. I have windows vista. My system is an acer aspire 7520. The screen starts gray and fades to black but nothing else so I just do a hard shut down and have to keep doing it until the windows password screen comes up. When I ran the test/scan it said that a patch is preventing the system from starting. . . . that is all I have and I don't know what to do from this point? Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hello,

Can you boot into safe mode (F8 at boot) and run a system restore to a working date?
Try that and get back to us :)

did that, didn't work

it didn't work. . . . it still takes 8-10+ times of me turning off the system before the boot page/password page will even come on. . . I started it in safe mode have run tests and still it doesn't work. . . .any suggestions? Thanks again for all your help!!

please help again that didn't work

I tried what was said to boot it in safe mode and it worked one time and now it's back to doing the same thing again!:( it took me 24 times to get it started this time!!

Sounds like its most likely your power supply. OEMs put junky ones in their computers to save as much money as possible, so they tend to go bad quite often.
