You have a 3ghz pentium D processor, which ran very hot anyway. Do you have enough case ventilation? What heatsink/fan did you buy? Your gonna need a good one to cool that beast down. Did you clean off the old thermal paste before applying the new heatsink/fan?

Could also be the GPU. IF your graphics card is running hot for whatever reason, it'll cause the exact problem you're describing. Try downloading speedfan and seeing what's getting the hottest.

My gpu was another thought before I checked the processor out. My gpu can get warm but according to my temps it stays pretty steady, and even under some light gaming it never reaches over 45C. On normal use as like right now, its holding at 35C and my processor is actually doing better, its holding about 47C. But my processor temp can spike within seconds but it seems to take forever to climb up much more after 65C. I did another load test for 10min and it only reached 70C before I pulled the plug since it stopped climbing. I also noticed that my room is getting hot very quickly because of how much heat the new heat-sink is dispersing. My old monster oversized sink only had two tubes. The newer smaller more compact sink has four tubes and actually has a smaller fan is doing a whole lot better. I think if I had used some artic silver paste it may have helped even more but I just used what came in the package. Like I said this is just a budget Frankenstein, just trying to hold it together for the time being.

Yes I cleaned every bit of the old grease off and polished the surface to a mirror finish with a lint free buffing cloth. As for the new heat-sink its a Thermaltake Silent 775 CPU Cooler. However, its really not silent since it runs at max constantly to try and keep up. The reason why I had to go with this style was because its the only thing that will fit in my case. This was the best option I could go before getting into the wet systems, which I probably wouldn't have mind doing because I found some pretty good deals but i'm just not going to be hanging on to this machine much longer.
