I just got 256 MB RAM into my Toshiba Tecra 8100 laptop, when I put it in I get a screen that says "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt system32/DRIVERS/isapnp.sys" If I take the RAM out it works fine, the error message says I can attempt to repair this by inserting the Windows disk, should I do that? If not what should I do?
Thanks,
John

They are both 144 pin SoDimms and both fit in completly, one is PC100 and one is PC133, I was told here and other places it was OK to combine speeds but it will run at the lower speed (PC133 was cheaper)

it might not be a speed issue, im thinking that this new stick is high density ram and that your laptop doesn't like high density ram; this is only an idea though because i'm not sure that it would even get past post if it couldn't use high density ram

ive gotten boot errors like this before when overclocking my ram. id say let it sit for a day and then try... if not try reinstalling windows... or you could setup a new instance of windows, and backup old files. then, reformat and setup windows from scratch.
