Hi,
Ive just finished re building my computer because my Tt Big Typhoon came so loose i was at 90 Degrees!!!!!

So, I rebuilt it, and the HSF is on real tight now.

While i was rebuilding, i noticed a jumper called FANSEL

Its for when if you have a 3 Pin CPU fan or a 4 pin cpu fan. Mine is a 3 pin, so i changed it from PWM to DC mode.

When I booted up first of all, it beeped at me and said the CPU fan was going to fail beacuse it was below them 800 RPM minimum. I went into the BIOS and it was back to its old Idle of 34 Degrees, but the CPU Fan is running at around 788 RPM. Has the fan slowed down to this because of the jumper change, and is it safe to leave it at such a low RPM?

Thanks,
Chris

I'd say switch the jumper and see if it speeds up, it's always better to have it running more than it needs to than not enough. 800rpm's sounds pretty slow, I think the 120 I installed ran at like 1200 or something.

Its OK, its runnin at 29 Degrees again, and its a little quiter now. Ill run Prime 95 and see how high it gets, and if goes past 50 Degrees ill change back.

EDIT: Thanks again dragon!!

Oh oh! I turned the computer on today, and the CPU fan turned its self off!! I reset the computer, and it did the same again, then once mre and its working again. It did start when it was first booted up, then when it reaches the BIOS pic it turns off. Any ideas? I need to sort it beacuse my parents need to turn my comp on for them to get internet downstairs, so it could end up cooking my CPU!

In the BIOS theres most likely a setting so that the cpu fan turns off if its under a certain temp (to make it less noisy). I would either lower the temp or disable this feature.

Nope, theres nothing in the BIOS like that, (Exceot maybe QFan, Ive turn that off anyway)

EDIT:

It WAS Qfan! the fan is at 1308 RPM now, much better.

Cheers!
