Please recomend me a game

Alright, fairly specific here, but have a go if you can think of anything.

I want a single player (can have multiplayer but decent single player) fps game with an alright story to it, gameplay is more important because i only want it to fill in a few hours. Saying a few hours though, if it is reeeeeaaaaaally long, that would be awesome.

I like HL, CoD4 and WaW (not really ones before that), UT BF2 etc etc.

I've been looking here, there an everywhere and can't seem to find anything half decent.
 
If your computer can run it, Crysis definitely has an interesting story line. If you want to go for multiplayer as well I would buy the expansion. If you don't have Team Fortress 2 I would definitely give that a go, great MP game.

You mentioned the original Half-Life. Have you played HL2 or any of the later Episodes?

Bioshock is quite fun and has a pretty decent story. Have you played any of the FarCry games? I enjoyed the first one but haven't played the second one yet. You may also want to try Mass Effect. It is more of an RPG with FPS elements, but I loved the story. Fallout 3 is also more RPG than FPS, but it's quite a bit of fun.

Also, if you have a PS3, give Killzone 2 or the Resistance series a shot.
 
I played crysis and thought it was alright, but wouldn't buy it once i'd played through once (played a friends copy and the demo)

I have and have played all half lifes and they are damn fine games too.

I'm not getting far cry because i have just bought an xbox which comes with it, so pointless buying it for PC too

bioshock i have and can't complete it, i get way too scared :P

I have TF2 and love it, but not really a story or anything, just a run around and shoot (or heal if you are medic ofc)

Fallout 3 i have and hate, wanting to sell it on at some point, got a friend that wants it so may sell to them

Mass Effect i will look into getting, it is on PC aswell as consoles isn't it?

bioshock is a winner.

also, half life 2 and the expansions are top notch, and if you want to get a bit old school you could check out a game called deus ex. it is an FPS/RPG blend set in the future where you unravel government conspiracies. definitely something worth checking out.

I love playing HL2 every once in a while just for the last few levels... :D

Heh heh - you should try Dead Space then. It's a third person shooter though.

I can understand your feelings towards Fallout 3. I have a love/hate relationship with it.

Mass effect is on PC. $20US on Steam right now. Not sure what it's running for retail in the UK. The story/length has polarized reviewers, but I think it has one of the most engaging, well written story lines out there. It is short, but the second part should be coming soon.
 
If you're not scared, play Doom 3 and Resurrection of Satan. Doom IV is scheduled for release in 2010 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
