I will be building my 1st Computer.
I have some parts from my current Computer that I will be putting in.
Could you please take a look at what I'm about to buy ?

CPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103539
Mobo : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128268
1 GB Memory (2x512MB) : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145479
Video Card : Couldn't decide between AGP or PCI Express x16 _ This one : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814150118
or this one ??? : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814102615 <--- PLEASE HELP (6800GS has higher clock speeds - Maybe that one ???
SoundBlaster 24-bit (current PC)
2x DVD Burner (current)
80GB Western HD (Current)
I'll be probably runnin 4 80mm Fans
Some Cathode Lights

Do you think 450W PSU would be enough for all this ??? Or should I rather get 500W ???
(I would be probably gettin one along with Case- But Couldn't find any yet )<--- PLZ HELP

Plz post any commnets and concerns - Keep in mind that I'm on very tight budget...

THX ALL 4 Ur REPLIES !!!

Ok So it's mainly the AmperAge ???
COuld Anyone Please reccomend some that will be compatible with that Mobo and will be enough to run it all ???
I'm sorry but my knowledge is horrible with PSU's...:o

I found this http://aspireusa.net/product.php?pid=86
Do you thinkthat the PSU is strong enough ?

the amperage is basically the quality of the PSU, the wattage is how much power it supplies. Higher wattage and lower amperage is best. 450W is fine to run pretty much anything, I can run 3 hard drives, a floppy, a CD drive, 2 80mm fans, a 120mm fan, 2 small fans, and the mobo off of a 300W psu. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go with the 500W, but it might be overkill

As to compatibility with psu and mobo, any psu that is atx will work. ATX is the only type of psu/mobo that has been made in about the past 10 years, so that shouldn't be a problem.

For the video cards, get the 6800GS PCI-E. It is a better card, and will be easier used in a future computer. AGP is rapidly going bye-bye. :)

And I love that case, the power supply has enough wattage, but I don't know enough about amp ratings to know what to tell you:

AC INPUT
115V/230V - 60/50Hz

DC OUTPUT
420W

+3.3V 28A
+5V 40A
+12V 18A
-12V 1A
-5V 1A
+5VSB 3A

420W
Max
Combined
Watts

That 40A on the +5V rail does not look good to me

oh and JFlo:
on ebay for the pc you are selling, you list the AMD A64 3400 speed as 2.2GHz. Did you underclock it, or is that a typo? Because the stock speed is 2.4GHz. (well mine always runs at 2.42GHz, but that is beside the point)

Hmmm

I would not trust it :) It's one of those cheaper PSUs by the looks of its rating having ridiculously high 5V Amp ratings and a low 12V Amp rating. I would suggest getting a better PSU, with 30A + on the 12V.

JAN :D

I would go with this power supply, it has good ratings, good wattage, and looks cool :D

Actually, that PSU is an open-box item, which explains the cheap price. If you really like it, but don't like the used factor, then go with this one.

O Ight.
Well- I see that I'm gonna have to spend some more money...:(
I don't want to risk that my system won't be stable, so I will go with at least 30A + on the 12V.
At least I know more about the AMP's...
Thx You ALL for ur replies....

Well what is your budget for the PSU? there are plenty of other power supplies with a 30A+ 12V rail that don't have pretty lights, it just depends on what you want and how much you are willing to pay. I only have 19A on my 12V rail, and I have never had any problems with power instablility. But I also don't do much in the way of extensive stuff. So please give us a budget.

Whats the purpose of the machine? What's your budget

Couldn't decide between AGP or PCI Express x16 _
You already did. You chose PCIE

Do you think 450W PSU would be enough for all this ??? Or should I rather get 500W ???

See PSU 101

Ok So it's mainly the AmperAge ???
No. Its where the 12V amperage, voltage tolerance and heat tolerance of the PSU

COuld Anyone Please reccomend some that will be compatible with that Mobo and will be enough to run it all ???
Again, read the PSU101

Thats crap. ;)
1. Since the voltages are constant you CANT have higher wattage and lower voltage
2. You want higher amperages ... just make sure you're getting them were you want them
3. As for 450W ... we've been over this before in other threads .... 450W doesnt mean crap all. Read the 101
4. Ditto for the 500W statement. If you're gonna go out on a limb and "say something like it's fact" ... make sure it is (or close to)

anything will power up ur rig but its a matter of it will be stable when running.
I understand what you're conveyng but even that's slightly wrong ... a 150W SFF PSU wont power up my box.

I would go with this <http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1459835&Sku=ULT31564%20ON> power supply, it has good ratings, good wattage, and looks cool
That it is but also note that it's an ATX1.03 PSU rather than one of the newer ATX2.0+ ones

Well what is your budget for the PSU?
And when you figure THAT out ... see the PSU101 for the budge appropriate reccomendation

Ok - My Budget was originally $630 for New Mobo,Case,PSU,VideoCArd, and one 512MB Mem.Stick...
But As I read you replies I think i need to go higher with the price., SO I'll go MAX. $650
I've already picked out everything BUT the PSU and Case...I have around $100 to spend on that...
Any recommendations ?

I was lookin for some cases and I found this http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=KG-188-BLK&cat=CAS < --- But I think It'll be bad quality...

I dont know any other way to say this ...
1. Figure out how much you have to spend on a PSU.
2. Click on the following link: PSU 101
3. Click on the spot where it says "Reccomendations"
4. Find one that matches your budget. The higher the price, generally the better the PSU

Now if you want to get both CPU and case, hunt around on Newegg or wherever, using the important points garnered off the PSU101 as a guide (i.e., amperage on 12V rail). If yer lazy the Antec Sonata II is a decent case + PSU for that price

*sigh* No matter what I say, you correct me:( I did actually mean higher amperage...don't ask me what I was getting confused with. As to the wattage, i was generalizing:eek: and saying....oh I don't know what the hell I was saying anyway. Listen to Praetor, he knows what he is talking about cause I evidently don't.

I dont pick on you. You're just wrong.
1. If you meant to say higher amperage than fine you meant to ... but you didnt.
2. As for generalizations, we've been over this before too :)

Hmm you're gonna have some interesting time getting a good gaming case for mounting those fans and stuff but it's doable.
