Plextor PX-750A : will I love it or regret it? (heavy RAM usage)

My sole purpose in even buying a drive at this time is because I can get it for $39 brand new. I'm mainly concerned with RAM or -R because that's all my panasonic E80 standalone burner can handle. I'm not saying I'll never use the other media, but RAM will be used VERY heavily vs other media in this if I get it as a means to shuttle stuff back and forth between the E80 and my PC.

I'm not very technical in the DVD area in general and was wondering are there any pitfalls that I may be missing (something like the panny not being able to read the RAM that the Plextor puts burns or vice versa?)

I've scanned a few reviews and can't really see anything negative but I wanted your opinion given my rather limited needs.
Thank you

edit;

I've been doing research and see that I likely can take a RAM, put it in the PC and figure out how to save it to my hard drive there.

However, I was wondering if I could take something like an AVI and convert it to something that can be transferred to RAM and played on the panny e80?

plextor drives aren't nearly as reliable as they used to be

i had a 52x plextor cd-r/rw drive that still works better than any drive i own to this day for burning cd's fast and accurately

but i've had 3 of their 16x dvd drives fail on me

lite-on has picked up the torch, they're my new go-to company for opticals

i wouldn't touch another plextor without a replacement plan
