plug 2 hdd's in tranfer one take it out

title is confusing.
can i put a hdd in my new computer with a bigger newer hdd and the old one has windowsxp home can i transfer it and still keep it on both hdds
 
Ohh.. .Sorry I didnt know you wanted to take the other out. You can use partition magic in dos to copy the partitions, and keep the other hard drive intact.
 
ok so i what i wanna do, i can do?
transfer the operating system from one hdd to another and still have it on hdd's

sorry i was typing fast earlier, dads friend was on tv, were watchin his show
 
i was told i have an 'illegal' OS on my computer. after i formatted the people who helped me said they installed that.
how believable is it, i dont know.
will it affect me transfering?
should i just buy an OS
