I have a sony handy cam/ digital camera. When i plug the camera up to the USB ports it doesnt reconize it anymore. It use to work fine and one day it just stoped reconizing it. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and every time i plug up the camera nothing happens. any help

have you updated to the latest firmware? if any.

have you tried inserting it in to see if it is recognized where windows goes through that whole process of trying to find the driver? if so, this is where you can try inserting the installation disk to see if it can install this way.

worked fine, then one day it stopped? have you checked to see if your usb ports are operational?

yeah everything else usb wise works fine. im not sure if its a problem with the camera or what. i tried to uninstall the drivers then plug the camera up and see if it detects it on its own and nothing. when i plug it up the camera says usb mode but the pc still acts like i never pluged it up

does the camra need to on so the pc can see it. both of my digital camras and vidio camra have to be on for the pc to see it.

Did someone disconnect the camera without clicking on the stoopid "unmount USB device" icon? I've seen issues with that and cameras.

yeah i can plug it up then turn the camera on and the camera screen says usb mode but the pc still dosnt reconize it. what do you mean exactly when you say is there new "firmware"

He means check out the Sony website and see if there is new software that resides in the camera itself... this is the program that operates the camera and it resides in a form of Programmable Read-Only Memory, known as firmware.
