i start up comp and while installing windows... i press f6 to get to where i can install SATA drive
http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106
and rest of stuff is in sig
i get this error when i'm loading the floppy. it says:
File \WinXP\fasttx2k.sys caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2113 in d:\xpspritm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

is there a file on the floppy i should change and can someone give me a link or tell me the right files to have in there or if that's not the problem please tell me what i can do to fix it

If you are installing WinXP and you have your BIOS set to auto detect the HDD, then you can just do a normal windows xp install with out having to press F6 at the start.... thats how i did mine and it works.

did, :( but it doesnt detect my hard drive

someone also said that i could put my IDE hard drive on there but the sata will be faster
and he said if i put on the ide one it'll delete all the information on it and install windows? will that work cuz if it will cant i just add the other hard drive later when i figure it out?

Just use the PATA drive to get things running and see if you can get the SATA detected once windows is running

Did you get the drive as an OEM drive or Retail package? Sometimes the drivers are outdated and you would be better off locating the latest driver for your particular HD and try to install ir that way. Also see if you can update your driver for the SATA controller on the Mobo.

Allmost forgot, some built in controllers on the motherboards are meant only for SATA Raid, so you might have to set up two drives for it to pick up. I ran into the same problem with mine, and i finally gave up and got a Raid controller card.
