I am a new member, and really need help.

I need to know how to erase a hard drive. I already have it out of the computer, and I only need to know what to wipe it with, and how.


I heard that an alcohol swap works, but do not want to experiment until I am sure.
 
First off, don't expect help so quickly. We don't live on this forum.

What are you trying to do, physically destroy the drive? I have no idea what you mean to use an "alcohol swap". If you want to start your computer over, you need to boot to your Windows disk, and during the setup you'll be asked if you'd like to partition and format your drive. Format the drive and reload windows.
 
Did you look at some dirty porn or something? Just kidding.......Ok you'll need to put it back in your computer and plug it up just as it was. And after that boot up your computer, insert your Windows XP disk, and it may ask you to boot from disk, & yes you want to boot from disk. And then follow the on-screen instructions and you do want to do a regular C-drive format with the maximum amount of Mb's in that partition. Dont do that alcohol swap or whatever that was that will really tear something up. I don't know who told you that but they are full of crap.
 
That's the problem, I can't login to any account on my computer, so I can't use a disk to reformat the drive. If I do manage to login, it says that WMexe cannot start or is damaged, then it shuts down automatically.
