pny 8800gts 640mb problem

ok i have been getting these really wierd issues yester day before i went to bed everytime i turned on the computer once it got to the windows screen where it shows my icon it would say no signal then i restarted it it worked for 2 minuites at the desktop then said no signal then i redownloaded the 8800gts 640 driver and nforce 680i and it still happened, now i redowloaded it again and pushed in the power connecters to make sure and they were in all the way but since the last time i redownloaded the 8800 driver its been working for a few hours. it happened when i was playing half life 2 episode 1 with everything as high as it could go. im playing it now and on the bttom right it says your graphics card has stopped working but is now recovered. Could it be that there is to much stress or heat? i have it on for 1 option
n anti alaising i have it as 16xq csaa and for filtering i have it on anstrophic x16 something. does any one know what the problem could be or what is causing this to happen?

does any one know what it could be ? : (, it just did it again, ran a memory test in startup, i shiuldnt have a virus or nything like that. everytime it says no signal my computer crashes later on? and the icons go from verticaly listed to like 4 verticle then 4 horizontle and now its like a square on the top left? i dont know why my desktop icons are being replaced each time. does any one know?
 
yep and it would go to a blue screen saying that it crashed. i just deleted 200gb on my hardrive by formating it and puting xp instead of vista, hopes this solves my problem
