My dad just bought a gateway desktop (2gb ram, dual core, 250gb hd, vista etc), just wondering if this cards any good?

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127242

What sort of games can it play? Crysis? Stalker? And also on what settings these types of games can be played on with this card?

Cheers, Adam.

That card seems to perform poorly most of the time. For $100 USD I'd get an ATI/AMD 2600xt, for $190 the x1950xt, for $250 (after rebates) the nVidia 8800GTS, then there is also the 2900pro which is sold out at $280.

The 8600GTS is a better card than the 2600XT

The 8600Gts is a quite good card. Im not familiar with Point of View as a brand but if it follows the reference for 8600gts it is going to be a pretty nice card.

The 8600gts scores around 5000 in 3dmark06, which is what my 2 x 7600gs hit. And those played most games at high settings on a 1024x768 resolution.

That card won't be able to max out the new games coming out, but it should do very well for some of the older titles like Doom3 and such.

Ahhhh, I was looking as if that card came with the gateway. For what it is, it is a decent card. But as said above, if your budget can stretch the extra few dollars I would highly recommend the 8800Gts. Awesome card. But ya, the 8600gts is a good card, I would just go with an 8800gts for the extra money if you can, if not it is a decent card that will let you play dx10 games, albeit at not max settings, but still well enough.

Thanks for the replies, my brother has a 7600 on his laptop. Performs well on C&C3 On max settings.

Im not really looking for a card at the moment i was just wondering which ones you think are decent, good value etc.
