I have 2 19" viewsonic CRTs that I am currently using. LCD technology is finally getting good enough that I may buy one soon. I don't like their slow response times, their contrast ratios, and their lack of displaying true black. However, newer LCDs are getting better and better. I really like the Samsung line, and will probably look into buying one of those in the next few months.

I don't much care for CRT's, they have more problems than LCD's or so it seems. They make this high frequency squeal that drives me insane. I am going to get rid of this CRT TV, which is really nice, but it still makes that high pitched sound, I need an LCD, to match my PC, lol. I have pretty decent hearing, my dad's CRT makes that noise badly and I can hear it across the house.

Heh. I know what you mean about the high pitched noise with the TV. It seems like it gets worse every time you turn it on. All you hear is "sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...." :P

Just curious, dose anyone know what what causes a CRT to make that noise?

Anyway I have one LCD (Acer AL1716) and on CRT (Starlogic, OfficeMax brand).

This is because your CRT has a leaky capacitor. My CRTs do not have this problem and do not make that hissing noise.

I currently have two LCDs on my primary computers (17" on the tower and 15" on the mac) then my laptop. I use a 17" CRT to test computers, but I hope to get a new LCD before too long and use nothing but LCDs...

I also have my LCD TV, but it's currently dedicated to being a TV and nothing else :P

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

CRT's give off WAY too much radiation and "cause cancer"! They hurt your eyesight alot more than LCD's do!

Even though:

7 Lappy LCD's

3 LCD's

7 CRT's

17" CRT. I hate it!!!!

Hey, not all of us can afford LCD's. if ever i buy one i'm not getting any smaller than 19".

What's the difference?

You could always save on your next rig build, and get an great 19' widescreen like me :D.

Enjoy the more keyboard and mouse space, and more clearer picture, and better eyesight :D

LCD monitors here in the Philippines are a bit pricy. But i'll eventually buy one soon after I upgrade my rig. ;)

Prioritize the games first, then your eyes. Lol!
