ive been having some trouble with the quality of my graphics in some games that i run for example battlefield vietnam.
The graphics were fine when i bought my computer a year ago but i had to format it because of viruses. Ever since i formated it the graphics have been really crap. I have formated it several more times and still no difference. i have installed all of the updated drivers for my card and still it does not get any better.
Can anyone help me too fix my graphics?

The card i have is a
nvidia geforce fx5600 256mg

1. System specs please :)
2. What driver version are you using?
3. What exactly do you mean by "trouble with the quality"?
:)

AMD 2800 barton
asus A7V600 motherboard
version 6.14.0010.7184 for geforce fx5600 256MG
80gb 8mg
kingston 1gb ddr 400 (2x 512mg)

i used to run battlefield vietnam in 1024 x 768 res with highest graphics and now all i can manage is 800x 600 on low know and lags horribly. this has happened with most of my games

A good reformat might help.

This is a very strange problem that you have. Usually graphics dont get worse like this unless perhaps there's a hardware prob. where your graphics card may be overheating and therefore not running as it should be. Have you cleaned out your PC physically? get some compressed air and make sure there's not a large buildup of dust in there.

at one stage, my graphics card was overheating, and that was when i cleaned my computer with an air compressor. It does'nt overheat anymore but perhaps the damage has already been done. When this problem first occured i took it to the computer shop, where i bought it and they said that the card was'nt damaged at all. They also said that the software, as far as they could tell, was fine as well. I got them to also format my computer and the problem still occured.
They said it was fine but im telling you, the is something going on thats not right!

He's been there, done that

when you reformat...you arent using a "quick" NTFS format are you?...
Since we're not having an issue with data security that's not important....

I suggest you fully re-format it. But back up your data first. Hopefully it will sort out your problem
He's done that numerous times already.......

Does the 5600 have a temperature monitor? (i.e., how do you know)

Are yer drivers tweaked for maximum performance?

i dont really know how to tweak my drivers to get them to work at maximum performance. can anyone help me tweak it?
Go into the nvidia driver controls, look for the D3D/OpenGL and change anything that says "Quality" to "Performance" (or "Balance")

haha mabye since you got your computer which you proble didn't built or install anything into yet. You proble didn't reinstall the drivers that came with the video card or should of came with your computer for it to work. If you go to My computer right click then propertys and look at device manager under display does it show you what graphics card you have? Or go to Start, Run, type in dxdiag and hit ok. Let it load click on Display on the top this should tell you everything about your video card. And check out the Version number on it and go to nvidia and look to see if there is any new updates for your drivers. But im just thinking you forget to reinstall some stuff when you reformated mabye.
