Port Speeds

Depends what you run them at :) For instance it used to be something like 19.2K for serial ports and then now you can hit 480Mbits with USB2.0 :)
 
all serial ports are fairly slow. USB's however are much faster 1.1=1.5 Mb/s and 12Mb/s and 2.0=480 Mb/s. firewire can go up to 50 MB/sec. these now are most commonly used ports.
