hi,
can anyone teach me how to reformat external hard disk to NTFS file system.
my pc can't detect the external drive.

Hi, first of all it's just a matter of the PC actually finding the drive.
does it show the removable (eject) button on the taskbar ?
or you can right-click on "my computer"-->"manage"-->"Disk Management"
over there you will be abble to know if your disk is there or if it is foreign and what not

ya, does anybody know what risks are involved with reformatting an external drive? mine is fat32, and i hear that it isnt as good as NTFS, so i thought i would format it to NTFS...good/bad idea?

backup your stuff and format to NTFS theres nothing wrong, with NTFS thats why its called NEW TECHNOLOGY FILE SYSTEM, fat is going to die in about some years time !!
i have an external 160GB which i formatted to fat but apparently it doens't want to take more than 80Gb, so i format to NTFS

ya the only problem is linux needs to crack into ntfs to write to it still am waiting
