So today for the first time I have learned about this rumor of the Xbox portable (yes I'm a bit slow on that). Of course there is an modded Xbox that makes the system somewhat portable here http://www.portablesystems.net/xbox page1.htm and here http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/homebrew/a-real-portable-xbox-191154.php

Also there this sweet looking mock up here http://editorials.teamxbox.com/xbox/1664/Xbox-Portable-Explored/p1/ and even a nicer looking mock up here http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/08/author-claims-360-team-working-on-portable-xbox/

Now obviously these (except for the big ugly green one) are mock ups but what do you all think? will Microsoft release a portable Xbox? I think so. But is this old news? does anyone know of any news that I'm missing? I've Googled and went through the first two pages of search results, nothing but rumor and speculation that I can find. Am I missing something?

Anyway if someone can clear this confusion up for me I'd be so grateful. Also lets discuss the Xbox portable and what impact it might have.

on that ea site it says [Playstation portable, xbox] not [playstation, portable xbox] theres a typo with the little r things(sorry don't know the name for em) so the one after Playstation should be after portable

Yes I heard rumors about this too. My friend says they have decided they will release a portable X-box, but dont have the date set yet. I've heard it will be called something like Microsoft Oragami. However I to havent really seen anything to confirm this.

Good eye :). Thank you I see that now. Well it lead to a potentially interesting thread. Still like to hear what you all think on the subject. I would be happy to see Microsoft throw a portable system into the ring. It would stir things up and make it a bit more interesting anyway.

i agree microsoft did pretty good on a gaming system id like to see what that could do in the portable market
 
Those all look homemade. For those of you who aren't aware of this yet, or those who wish to correct me because I have made some mistake, Microsoft is also thinking of creating something called an "X-box 180", which will be a portable version of the 360, sort of like how the PSP is a portable version of the Playstation 2.

Interesting... I think I'll do some more of the ol Googleing. I could have sworn I read that somewhere earlier while looking up the portable xbox rumor
