i use utorrent to dwnload and sometimes leave my computer on over night, but it always seems to restart itself during the night (which it doesnt do during the day). does anyone know why a computer would randomly restart

??

First thing that springs to mind is Windows Automatic updates.

Check the event viewer to see what initatied the restart.

hi i looked in the events log and it looks like the computer turned off at 3.10am there are no recorded issues or errors at that time the last application was security centre at 3.09.50am

Did it say what user initiated the restart? do you have automatic updates enabled?

i do have automatic updates enabled, around 3.10am the user was N?A when the log stops

homenet is probably right, windows might've automatically updated itself, no big deal except that it can be annoying. the only problem i see is that you are supposed to get like a yes/no box asking if you want to restart...

you can set windows to ask to update when the updates are available.

ha. i had that problem. i left 32 downloads running and went off on holidays. came home and my pc was logged off.

wondered what happened and only realised a day later that windows updated at 03:00am and restarted automatically.

set windows to download automatically but ask when to install.

that way it wont turn the pc off.

i always turn it off and do manual updates..... and update once every other month
