Possible build - $1000 AUD Budget.

Hey all. Some friends i know said that i could get around $1000 AUD for my current rig, counting in my RAM stick that will be back from RMA soon. I will be keeping my copy of windows.

Now, assuming $1000 AUD (as of now, thats roughly $825 USD), what have you guys got for me? This is for the tower only, but must include a DVD burner.

Notes: I would like a soundcard as well. even the same one that i have now.

Well, that price is quite pushing it unless they offered to buy it....or you plan on selling to unwitting people on craigslist/ebay/etc. So don't give your hopes up on getting that much out of it.

To fit an audio card in...you would need to go with a GPU such as a 5770:

As far as an audio card...Check ebay, [h], etc for used X-fi's or such, i saw an X-fi fatal1ty on [h] for $55 USD today, same card i have except without the front panel I/O connector.

$1000 is pusing it yes,Id say more like $700 AUD.

Bombers build is okay,But its Dual core again....whats the point in going Dual again when Applications/Games already take advantage of Quad core.

If i were you Linkin,Id save your money....wait a bit,Snap up a used 775 Quad core or wait for a deal on a new one.

Then get a SSD drive,that will be certian to give your system quite a boost!

Probably a better idea IMO. Upgrading to 4gb of ddr2 wouldnt be a bad option either.

You'd be surprised the performance of a clarkdale in gaming, especially considering its got H/T. Not to mention...the clarkdales clock like hell. But for the money, the AMD Phenom/AM3 mobo i listed as an alternate option is another pretty viable option.

oh yeah without a doubt its a good performer,But unless i was on a very strict budget then i wouldnt go dual core again...hell the i5 isnt even that much more tbh.

Like i said,i think your best getting a used Quad of ebay or something,then getting a SSD drive....it will be alot cheaper than a whole new rig.

Well, in prices UK or here in the US i would agree(well, actually here in the US if you have a microcenter you can get an i7 860 for $199), but AUD the i5 750 is a good bit more than the i3(although, obviously when applicable the i5 is a great chip as well.

(Sorta related,but in the winter warz for forum warx a buddy of mine beat my Q9450 and 9800gtx with a i3 (i think it was a 530) and a 5770).
