possible gfx prob

Hi guys,

Came home the other day and my computer was displaying no image, and i noticed that a fan was louder than normal. Pulled it apart and reliased it was the gfx card fan was going crazy!

So i reseated the gfx card and still the same!!!

Any ideas as to whats going on?

Possible that the video card overheated and burned up. The system should have shut down, ideally, before this happened, but that's not always the case.

When you reseated the video card, the fan was still going crazy? What's the make/model of the computer and video card? Sounds to me like it's dead. Do you have onboard video?

Yeah was still going 100%. I only got the gfx card like 2 weeks ago and its been working fine!

GFX - hd5850
M'board is ep45 dsl - so no on board which sucks!

you still don't get any image?

if you still have the 9800 in your sig, put that in and maybe boot into safe mode and see if you get anything. if so, maybe try uninstalling the ati drivers (and you should probably use driver sweeper as well) and put the 5850 back in and boot and (if you get anything) try reinstalling the drivers.
