Possible PSU Problem?

i recently built a computer and i had it running multiple times on 3 different days. the first 2 days i was just installing the drivers, software, etc... the third day i installed world of warcraft and played for a few hours. this morning i went to turn on the computer and nothing happened. i made sure the power button connection to the motherboard was tight and before i did that i turned off the switch on the back of the power supply. i went to turn the computer on again wondering if maybe the cables were loose and it was no big deal, but the only thing that happened was all the fans started spinning for about a second(even my blue led fan lit up) but then went out and spun out for a few seconds. i tried once again and nothing happened. the only time i get the fans to spin for a second is if i switch the power supply off for about ten seconds and then turn it back on and try to boot up. i only get the fans to spin once after doing this abut i can do it repeatedly.
thanks in advance for your help i am a bit lost right now.
by the way my psu is an Enermax Noisetaker 485 watt.

i was just curious as to if it was the power suply that is the problem as it wasnt DOA, and was working for a few days on multiple restarts.

I had a powe supply that worked fine, but once I shut the computer down, I was forced to flip the switch on the back of the PSU off then back on to get it going again. That's worth a shot...

From the sound of it, I do beleive it's a power supply problem. I guess check your power button, maybe even swap the power/reset buttons and see if that works. Try another PSU if at all possible. Um...not much else you could try if it was working previously...

thanks for the advice ill try the reset/power button idea. but when i flip the switch on and off i just get the fans to run for a second and then it dies.
edit, ive unplugged everything besides the power from the back of the computer, and unplugged my hard drive and DVD RW drive. still the same power up for one second.

it does not turn on for 5 seconds at all only for a second, the fans just nstart spinning and spin out because of the little sign of power.

The power switch itself is not the problem. It is either the mainboard or the PSU. I suspect it is the PSU from the sounds of it.

SirKenin in response to your post, if it is either one of those it must be the psu then, because my motherboard ethernet led is working, as well as 2 small leds on the board itself. but even so that may be the problem. i supppose we will have to wait for a few more posts to fully diagnose the problem.
EDIT, my friend is picking me up a cheap power supply from best buy tonight and i am going to see if that one works. it seems to be the easiest way to solve the problem.

sorry i havent posted my results in a few days, my dads being a dill rod.
my friend brought over an old antec true power 430 watt that we hooked up.
everything booted up as normal. thanks for your input.

you can ask, but i dont have to give the answer.
it depends really. sometimes people can just be dills and not rods. depends on the degree of the situation.
