possible reasons for no video?

I need a list of possible reasons that might cause me to not get video when turning on my system. To be a little more detailed, I had my computer setup on my desk, no case. so just the MOBO sitting there and everything hooked up to it. This worked fine for a few weeks. But then I got a case and put everything inside. Now, i cant get any video. So any suggestions? I tried re-seating stuff. I also tried using on board video rather than the video card. Thank you very much

Did you install the brass standoffs between the case and the motherboard?

yes i did. and i thought i might not have put enough so i went back and added more, but that didnt help

You only put them where there are holes in the motherboard. Make that the holes in the case match up to the holes in the motherboard, don't put them anywhere else or you'll short the motherboard.

haha. no i mean. i usually just put one at each corner and one in the middle. i know to line them up with the holes in the board. regardless. i left it off for the night and turned it on this morning to fine that it works now....thanks anyway
