My motherboard for the desktop is an Aopen i915ga-plf and the only drivers they have for the chipset on that board is for windows XP.

I have installed vista on my desktop, but i am unable to install the chipset driver for the motherboard. I was wondering if there is any way around this?

unfortunately, probably not. It is possible that a third party has created a driver to suit your needs, so don't give up hope. I have tried enough XP/Vista cross-breeding to know that Vista isn't going to let you load potentially incompatible drivers without a fight.

Midrange motherboards are relatively inexpensive, if you're willing to consider an upgrade.

Maybe someone else here or elsewhere can tell you more or offer a solution.
