Possible to OC?

Hey guys. As ya'll can tell my GPU is kinda aging (actually, it's already aged:P ).

I was wondering if it was possible to OC my 6600GT. I recently purchased DoD: Source and I can only play with low settings to get good frame rates. My friend showed me how to OC the core a little (back when I was a total newb:rolleyes: ) but I only got it up about 15mhz:eek: .

My friend also said that since the 6600GT is a budget card that it cannot be OCed, but I don't really trust him copletely:cool: .

I don't have any experience in OCing because I don't really like it that much. But right now, I have to hold out with my 6600GT until Conroe comes out:( .

Thanks for your posts!

isnt there something in the drivers to OC? If not, try downloading rivatuner.

BTW, you sig says 6500GT ;)

Can't he like just download Coolbits and enable that hidden overclocking feature that's in forceware already, then just click on the "Find optimal frequency" or something like that to OC.

You should actually get pretty good framerates with pretty high settings. A friend of mine has a GF6600 256Mb and he can have 1024x768, mostly high settings with full HDR on.
