Possible upgrade this year

So I am looking to upgrade my core components this year (CPU, Mobo, RAM, and video card). I have been really looking at the Ryzen CPUs, I guess mostly because of fancy marketing. I haven't heard much about the latest Intel CPUs.

I will purchase a mid-range CPU (appox. $170-$200 USD). What are your guys' thoughts? Should I get a Ryzen 5 or go with an Intel chip?

I use my computer for gaming, but not graphics intensive games (mostly free2play FPS).

For the graphics card I am looking at either a Radeon RX 560 or a Geforce 1050.

I will also add that I do not overclock nor have any intention of doing so.

What instances have your 3570 holding you back? With a low/mid range card and f2p FPS it seems like you'd be fine just going with a GPU upgrade.

For a CPU upgrade you'd also have to upgrade your motherboard, and buy DDR4 RAM as well, unless you simply threw in a 3770 i7 or similar.

Very good points. Absolutely nothing is holding my 3570 back right now. It is just the knowledge of it being 5 years old. But yes, the video card is the priority.
