Possible ways of watching Tv on my PC

Hi everyone hows it going,
I'm hoping someone can help, what i want to do is to be able to watch Tv on a PC that is connected to the internet.

I would prefer it if there was a way if i could just watch freeview over the internet but all i seem to find are these seedy looking websites, offering software which is probably full of adware etc.

The next option i thought of is one of them Tv cards, I've seen this on microdirect:

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(10127)Freecom-DVBT-USB-Digital-Antenna-Stick-buspowered.aspx

So if i buy what I've posted above is there everything there i need to be able to watch Tv as in like: BBC1, BBC2, ITV, freeview channels etc. I don't have to connect to my digibox thing do I, this would be too much of a hassle as it is in another room. What I would actually like is what I've posted above but a PCI version so i can connect it internally. Oh yeah I live in Huudersfield, West Yorkshire if you need to check if I'm in the correct area for recieving a certain type of signal etc.

I can't seem to make head or tail of any of this stuff.
Thankyou very much to anyone who can help.
salman.

Watch tv from around the globe according to the description seen. It requires XP with SP2 and will be given a try here on Vista as well. With dsl or cable internet there wouldn't be any download speed problems you would see with dialup for viewing.

Joost beta 1.0 for Windows is seen on the download button. It's strictly a Windows type application. The general information and knowledge base is seen at http://www.joost.com/support/faq/

I was about to try it on Vista since it is running well on XP here. To set it up you enter an email address, user name and password, first and last name, date of birth, etc. there since some channels are for mature viewing. When going to shut it down you have to minimize it and right click on the icon found in the system tray.

Tv-links.co.uk, arguably the best tv/movie/media streaming site around, went down little over a week ago. The owner was arrested because his site had thousands of links to watch free TV. Linking is not illegal in any way, yet they accused him of profiting off the links, so they arrested him. the sites below are the same thing, links to free tv. I've checked them all awhile ago, but not recently, so a couple may be down. Personal collection, if you will. And they're not virus-filled! Never once had a problem with them.

Joost is good, great quality, but rarely updated, chalk it up to being a beta, who knows.

I just watched the rewind of the Red Sox win of the 3rd World Series game on one channel without one glitch. For a beta it seems to working quite well. You can drag certain channels onto the bar at the bottom of the screen to create a custom list of favorite channels. The description of what Joost is can be read here.

Who's building Joost?

Janus Friis and Niklas Zennström have been talking about the idea behind Joost for a long time. In early 2006, they started gathering the world's best engineers, web gurus and media visionaries to start building it, under the code name of The Venice Project. More than a year of very hard work later, their vision is ready for public viewing.
In that time, Joost has grown from a handful of people in a small office outside Amsterdam to more than 100 people spread right across Europe and North America. Joost is already a global venture, bringing TV to a global, highly networked community. And already, it's setting new standards for 21st-century entertainment. We hope you'll join us on our journey to deliver next-generation TV, wherever in the world you may be.

That was what is seen on their "about us" page at the site there. For that long list of sites with free online tv I suspect some have adwares.

JOOST SUCKS!!!

It just focuses so much on the visuals in the background and the friggin' menu takes forever to load.. So I got that crap off my PC in a hurry...

how much bandwidth does joost use?

like if i were to watch something for an hour how much would have been downloaded?
