wow amazing i found a big forum to sell my computer parts on and so thinking my search was over i registred. wait a minute now, whats this? i cant sell my stuff? well thats pretty lame. lets see it says here i need to make 100 posts before i can sell stuff. hmm. time to spam i guess.

well if i was a lame spammer i prolly would do that. then i would be deleted.

k so anyway heres my first post.

whats a good entry level pcie card to buy? Im looking in the $100-175 range cuz im waiting for the 9 series of nvidia cards. for comparison i've been using a aiw x800xt agp and i usually play games around 1024x768-1280x1024 res. its still a decent card but im buying a new system so lets hear your suggestions.

The 100 post rule is to help protect the members here from spammers who are trying to rip us off. This way it's not as easy for people to get ripped off.

Lastly, spam posts don't count towards the hundred, and if you do spam then you may be banned.

And he said newegg.com is a great place to buy computer parts.

no (yes to omega), Newegg.com is a computer part website/store search on there, then come up with 2 or 3 products and post the links and we can tell you which is better or more realible

PS, my 400th post

i know what newegg is. and i know spamming will get me banned. thats why im not doin it. but i'll pick out a bunch and see what you guys think then.

btw the spamming comment and all that junk is just me showing my frustration instead of actually taking it out on the board. be back in few.

how about 8600gts SLi or 8800gt? which would be better in the long run.

and what would be the ati equivalents of these two boards. i dont really want another ati board cuz i hate their drivers but i'll take a look anyway.

  1. Just go to eBay, selling stuff on this board is useless in my opinion
  2. You're just making tons of posts, trying to fill them with random crap, so that it's not "technically" spam
  3. If you don't play at a high res, then 512mb won't be that much better than 256mb
  4. SLI sucks and is [almost] useless. An 8800GT will be way better than two 8600GTS in SLI could ever even pretend to be.

sorry didnt know i couldnt ask questions either. didnt read that in the disclaimer. otherwise thanks for the reply. tomshardware tends to disagree you with on sli but whatever.

Well you obviously didn't read the disclaimer;)

Also, it's not that SLI is useless, it definitely increases performance, it's just not worth it (imo).

hold on a minute, your 16? dont mean to be rude or anything but why am i getting advice from a kid anyway. lol.

are there any older more experienced people on this board?

Unless you have a uber ton of cash to waste, SLI is not worth the money for the increase in performance.

Yeah, I'm 16, do you have a problem with it? What really pisses me off is when people underestimate me, based upon my age. I apparently know more about computers than you (no offense) so if I were you, I'd take my advice.

As for SLI and my opinion on it, I think you'll find that most people here, even the "older more experienced people" will agree with me.

I'm out.

lol. hit a nerve apparently. go get some ice cream from your mommy she'll make it all better. lol

so even if i went with an 8800gt(which can be had for under $300) or somethin similar would it even be worth while goin after a mobo with sli support even if it has 2 16x pcie slots? (most older mobos only had one true 16x slot. the other was usually x8,x4, or even 1)

$250-300 down the road isnt that much for an upgrade. maybe not on a paper boys salary but i could certainly afford to do it. according to toms website it would be about a 32% increase in performance. i think that would be well worth $250.

let me know what you think. if anyone is using sli on a recent build let me know about your experiences with it. thanks.

Half the people on this board are under 18. If you are going to go around putting us down because we're not as old as you, or are going to keep making comments like the ones your making, maybe you should ask your questions elsewhere.

As for the GPU question: IMO I don't think, nor have ever heard someone say SLI is like having twice, or even near twice the quality and performance. If you are not planning on doing some extreme gaming (i.e. Crysis maxed out with DX10), or not even running at full resolution, I think an 8800GT would be great. No need for 8800GTX, Ultra, or anything in SLI.
