Even if we combined our scores together, we would only muster up 1/10th of the average scores of a single computer.
We definitely need upgrades.

So I'm assuming, surfing the net and e-mail is the extent of your computing.

If you decide to make your own build, check out directcanada.com. At the moment they have a promo on for free shipping, and their prices are cheaper than any other that I've seen available for Canadian buyers.

Yesterday, I purchased three quarters of my parts from them, so upgrades are in the works for me.
 
Ya, with that broken CD-rom, its hard to do much more than surfing the web, emailing... writting exams and watching some movies from the net...

In the meantime, I try to stay informed for my next purchase. I discovered directcanada.com a few months ago, as well as ncix.com. I find that the latter is much easier to navigate, but they have shipping fees, that's why I try to check when they have promos where some items give free shipping for entire order. That combined with their price matching policy makes them hard to beat. But generally directcanada is only a few buck pricier in this particular scenario, otherwise its plain and simply cheaper.

btw thanks for the comment on the sig... I wrote that about the PSU cuz I read somewhere that u could get the UL(I think?) on your PSU to know the real manufacturer. Well, I did, but apparently it was impossible to find it.

Cross-referencing with other sources like newegg and ebay, greatly increase your chances of find better prices. As you had mentioned, directcanada may lack navigational ease, but if you find the model number of the specific part from elsewhere, you could simply search for it at directcanada for their quote. Generally they are cheaper for larger purchases. I for one used three vendors yesterday to purchase all the parts I needed.
 
This program isn't too accurate, you get a totaly different score almsot everytime you bechmark. 2007 version was the best on XP for benchmarks, i don't know what they done to 08'

I done it three times, frist got 6031, seconed got 12054... third i got 8021

The benchmark looks normal to me. The person is running quad and sli so its pretty normal for that score.
