Potential Upgrade Help

I haven't upgraded in a while and I'm not currently up on all the new processors.

I currently run an Athlon XP 3000+ with 1Gig PC3200

I'm looking at potentially upgrading around xmas time for say somewhere between £100 - £200 (if possible)

For that kind of money what should I be looking at?

For reference I run an Asus V9999 (Geforce 6800 128Mb AGP GFX Card)

I've seen this bundle: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?mbb-pdm805&P=1 but haven't a clue how much better it is than what I have now. I know it's not AGP but is the CPU any good?

well getting a board/proc combo is probably your best bet. The best processors out right now on the consumer market are the core 2 duos.

Also, almost all new boards take DDR2, and PCIE, which means more upgrades. You may want to wait until you can build a whole new system. Just a thought though.

Hmm yeah just looking through a list of new motherboards and can't see a single AGP one - thanks for pointing that out!

Edit:

Found one that supports AGP.

I'm not sure about how future proof this motherboard is but that doesn't bother me as I've always upgraded the motherboard in the past and I could use my existing memory.

CPU: Pentium 4 945 Dual Core 3.4GHz LGA775 2Mb x2 Cache 800MHz FSB http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?IL-PPD945+
Motherboard: MSI P4M800 SKT775 DDR400 OnBoard VGA & 8xAGP Interface ATA, SATA Raid, LAN http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MSI-PM8M2V

What do you think, is it enough of an improvment over an Athlon 3000+ to be worth £157?
