So I have 2 fans on my power supply which are hooked up to a direct 12v adapter externally. This is all due to the fan controller built into the psu being broken. The only problem is the fans are 80mm so at full rpm they are quite loud. Too loud for me to keep them on at night and Fold. I was looking at potentiometers so I could integrate it into my desk right next to the toggle switch. The pot's on ebay look like they are all 1/2watt which im afraid is going to burn up. Any reliable cheap place to get one that will handle two fans? I really dont want to spend $10-15 for a fan controller if I could spend a couple bucks on a pot. Any help or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
