I have this Lenovo ThinkPad R61 laptop currently.
Typically, what I would do is hook up the laptop to an external monitor. The laptop would be closed and a wireless mouse/keyboard would be used. This allows for convenient use for when the laptop is around the house.
However, I'd like to be able to power on the laptop bringing it out of standby, pressing a keyboard button. (Laptop not off --> in standby) Is there anyway to allow a usb port to remain powered while in standby/hibernation to allow this?
Currently I must open the lid to turn the laptop on from standby every time. My hinges are getting old and not as tight as they use to be. This laptop has been great and I'd love to extend its use and get a couple more years out of it.
