my power box recently started make this loud noise, i pushed the fan and it stopped for awhile (noise). it comes and goes, anyone noe how i can fix?

buy a new psu, the fan has failed.this is common in cheap psus.

i hope you didnt stick anything in it. Dont or you will die.

still, everything in there is live, good idea not to poke around in there

its probably a sleeve fan instead of a bal bearing one. These start out nice and quiet but get noisy when the lube wears out.

Take it back to the shop as faulty, if you can.

or even just cleaning the dust out (if any) may help, but don't go spraying WD40 in there or any other spray oil as it will get very hot and the fan will literally "burn out" in the coil windings!!! maybe (if you can get to it) some HT grease may be an option, but make sure you turn it off first eh ;)

Sorry..NO WAIT !!!! I never meant open it up!!! I meant if you can get to it without opening up which when cleaning dust would be very possible, I've applied the grease with a curved spatula type device before;)
(***has visions of KooPs hair STANDING to ATTENTION !!! ***)

lol, its got a grill so i can get to the fan, and its not even dusty the comps only like 1.5yrs old. ill jst get my mini air compressor and kill those dust bunnies and we'll see wat happens

whats the hardware running on it, as sometimes when the draw gets larger, the fan has to keep up its speed to keep the psu from exploding

Well I've hear problems about this happening on my PSU, although it hasn't happened to me yet. I've heard reports of the fan hitting the grill. A simple solution would be to take off the grill and put some small washers in between the grill and PSU. This does not require opening up the PSU (at least on my model), it is cheap, and it is quite possibly the solution.

I've had that before to my Coolermaster. I tried to fix it but with no luck, if you're PSU is still under warranty then I would quickly go back to where you bought it and ask to exchange for another one.

Those fans shouldn't give up on you that quickly unless you leave your computer on 24/7 for almost 2 months.

Haha yeah I was starting to get that noise, probably from my PSU. I hit the case and then it stopped, rofl. This PSU has the perfect wattage, price, and amps on the 12V rail, but now I'm kind of regretting getting this. xP
