I have a 500W PSU.Will this be good enough to run 8600GT?
My specs are:
Gigabyte GA-945GM-S2
Intel C2De6300
Kingston 533 512MB RAM

Depends on the PSU - Brand/Model and amperage on the +12V in particular. Having said that, 8600s don't draw that much power. Any reasonable quality modern 500W PSU should be fine.

i heard somewhere you need a minimum of 1000W to run the 8 series properly?
No. That's way more than is required for even SLI'd 8800GTXs. Some people are running a pair of those off 600-700W PSUs (although that's cutting it a bit fine), but a good 750W+ unit is more than sufficient for even a pair of those cards. Only if you're adding dual CPUs, watercooling equipment, a large RAID array, etc... would a 1000W PSU be recommendable.

An 8600GT draws a little over 40W on its own. Since it has no PCI-E power connection, it would be impossible for it to draw over 75W anyway.
