i'm planning on upgrading again when dx10 and the g8 series comes out, i'd jump all over two 8950x2. with all the talk of how much power the next gen will consume i'd hate to have to replace my current power supply to a 1k server class. i was wondering what people thought on this.

i was thinking i could run one card off my main psu, and the other off this secondary. seeing as the card would be the only thing taxing the secondary, i would figure 250w would be enough.

FSPs BoosterX is a better unit, but the Thermaltake would also suffice.

These are great units in order to take the extra load of high powered GPUs. As for what will be necessary for the G80s, there's no way to know for sure until they're released. 8950GX2s will not be part of the initial G80 release, though.

This may be a dumb question but where would you install that PSU? The thought of having a PSU exclusivly for your GPUs is a great idea. Is it external or internal?
