Power outage: Computer wont boot

Recently there was a power outage
and i currently dont have a surge protector for my computer (one in sig)
and so since that outage(which was last night) ive been unable to boot windows on my computer

when i start it, the memory and drive testing finishes properly but when the next screen comes it displays

NTLDR is missing
press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart your system

so now i am unsure of what i should do

yeah, i will for my new build for sure

and so i tried all of the pheasable methods
and none worked

so i guess my computer is dead

and now i have to wait until i get my new one up and running


just a question

is there a way to copy the favorites from my old comp to my new one by just using the old harddrive??
 
Its a common thing, i have had it happen on two computers. The good thing is your comp. is prolly ok just insert your windows disc and reinstall and everyitng should function like normal.
The bad thing is all your sh*t is gone...i lost all my pics i was heart broken but if you backed all your files your in luck!
 
You may also have the option of inserting your Windows XP CD, booting from it, and choosing the Repair option, and then running the command: fixboot.

For your computer to boot from the CD drive first, this option must be set in the BIOS, under "Boot Priority" or similar. You can find out if it's already set this way by putting the Windows XP CD into the drive, and resetting the computer. If it boots from the CD, then wait for it to load, and press "R" for Repair, eventually it will dump you to a command prompt. From there you should be able to run the 'fixboot' command.

Although this fixes Master Boot Record (MBR), problems, I am uncertain as to whether it fixes NTLDR problems, although it should.

Below is the process to copy the file from the XP CD.
"Windows XP users

Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\


Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot. "

This should solve your problem.
 
Hopely its not hardware problem. Normally i just open up and reset the bios setting ( jumper ) and do bios setup again. Just give it a try
