Power Outage

We had a power outage here at 2:39 am. Both my computers were blinking when I tried to turn them on. They wouldn't boot up. I feared I did not know what (fried motherboards? Having to replace the two computers?). I turned off the PSU's and unplugged them. Plugging them back in and turning on the PSU's worked. What had happened to the two motherboards to cause them to blink? I would appreciate straightforward answers, not sarcastic comments on my inadequacies.

Sometimes it just happens if they lose power and regain power quick. Removing the power for a longer period of time fixes it.

My friend had an issue with monitors not turning on, but PC functioning fine via Teamviewer. Told him to unplug the power and hold the power button for 15+ seconds. He literally called me a wizard
