Power Shut Off

So I had my computer on and running, playing a game, plugged into a surge protector, and all of a sudden my power went out, tripped a breaker. OK, used to it happening with LANs and all, but now my computer wont get past the boot screen, lol. The screen that usually flashes for a second or two that I would use to get to the BIOS stops after the second line of loading. It just shows Main Processor: Quad, ect shows the clocks. Then below it, Memory Testing: shows some numbers then says OK. And below that it just says CP. I still see the option to go into my BIOS, but my keyboard doesn't work, lol. I've reset the BIOS, and even tried another hard drive for shits and giggles. I did get into my BIOS to set my clocks back, but after saving, it did an unusual restart after the saving of the settings.


I'm assuming the worst, assuming the worst is something main is fried.

Well I thought that worked, since it seemed to boot fine, and since my BIOS reset, I have to hit F1 to continue. My keyboard wouldn't work, so I plugged it in my laptop, and it worked just fine. So I plugged it back in my desktop and restarted. It froze at the exact point it did before I reseated the memory.

So, motherboard issue?
 
Sounds like the CMOS has died. The battery in your mobo is probably dead so i recommend buying a new one and see if that solves the problem :)
 
After you fix your problem, lose the surge protector!!! Spend the $80 and get an AVG, you will be glad you did if the power ever goes out like that again.
 
Replacing the CMOS fixed the problem. And the weird thing is, I was plugged into a surge protector.. I'm going to try using my APC battery backup again, even if it doesn't work, I'm going to invest in one, lol.
