Power supply 550w or 1000w

I am thinking of buying a new pc, theres an option to upgrade from the standard but not much advice. Now I have customised with a better porcessor, graphics etc. I'm unsure if I need the extra power as to upgrade the power supply from 550w to 1000 is a whopping £150!

So anyway heres the computer Im thinking of buying:

Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor(2.4GHz,8MB Cache,1066MHz)
Hybrid TV Tuner - Digital & Analogue
SLI nForce 680i Mainboard

22" Widescreen LCD Display(MM,DVI,5ms)

T6100 - 5.1 Speakers + Subwoofer
6 USB, 2x Firewire, GB LAN
Multi-format Memory Card Reader
Logitech Cordless KB & Optical Mouse

Now I can get either:
Aluminium ATX Midi Tower + 550W PSU
or:
Aluminium ATX Midi Tower + 1000W PSU

For the system which power supply would I need?

If I was to buy a second 320MB nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS - Dual DVI, HDTV, TV-Out for SLI would I need 550 or 1000?
 
550W would be enough for one GTS, i'd say around 750 (or more) for two. the price difference between cheap and nice PSUs is enough to spend a little more and get a decent one. your better off having too much than not enough here.

Well I cant find any spec for the 550w power supply, just a spec about the case.

I am hoping to buy a 320MB nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS - Dual DVI, HDTV, TV-Out which the 550w should be enough, however In future if I want to buy another 320MB nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS - Dual DVI, HDTV, TV-Out for SLI, I dont want to have to upgrade my psu as well. What you guys think?
 
just make sure it has plenty of power on the 12 volt rail and that it is name brand PSU, having a stable PSU is better than having one with just a lot of watts. just be careful because the vast majority of PSUs that come with cases are terrible
 
do not use the power supply that is included with the case. unless its a good brand and with a good amount of amps on the 12v rail. Wattage isnt everything. I have a 600W and has less 12v amps than a 450W

I believe that the 550W PSU in question is a good quality HEC built unit. It should have no problems powering your system with a single 8800GTS, but you'll need to upgrade if you want to add a second.
