I have a compy with a 7600 GS, 2 gigs of ram, 2 hard drives, dvdx16, firewire card, and a couple other goodies(zalman fan on the 7600gs, fan putting air out the front.. that kind of thing). I tried plugging in two more sticks of ram and my compy refused to boot on me, power turned on and everything buzzed and hummed but nothing came on the screen.. after a while of doing this it would turn off.. then back on. I'm going to make a brave assumption and say my 350 watt power supply is no longer covering me, I have never bought a new power supply before and have two questions.
1. I have a 4 pin cpu connector on my motherboard, the power supply I'm currently looking at ( XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W ATX 500W Power Supply 115/230 V) has an 8 pin cpu connector. One of the reviews said it was a difficult hookup. I'm wondering first of all IF I can hook them up, and secondly whether it's any more difficult than just fitting certain pins in certain slots.
2. Does this sound like the most likely culprit to you? I know bad ram could make things boot randomly but this isn't booting at all. I did switch the ram I have with the ram in there (both sets are the same kind)(OCZ PC2 6400 1gb dual chanall reaper edition)
